World Compassion Delivers Vital Aid to Myanmar
On May 2-3, tropical cyclone Nargis pounded Myanmar with 120 mile per hour winds. It's estimated that the cyclone killed 130,000 people and left 2.5 million people needing basic essentials, such as clean water and food.
Two of the first humanitarian relief organizations allowed to enter the country were World Compassion and Samaritan's Purse who have been dear friends and partners with Marilyn Hickey Ministries for many years. Thanks to support from our friends and partners we were able to send critically needed water, food, medicine, and tents.
We received this email update from the World Compassion team:
Dear Marilyn and Sarah,
I have some fantastic news to give you today.
Our World Compassion team has arrived in Myanmar
Thanks to the help of our partners like you and churches around the world we have been able to deliver 20 Vortex Voyager Water Purification Units and over $100,000 of much needed medications and 2.5 tons of rice.
Since 1969 World Compassion has truly been a news-and world-changing organization. They are dedicated to sharing the love of God in areas of the world organizations rarely go because of political, religious, or economic instability. A Look at Ethiopia Trek 2008
The Ethiopia Trek is coming up in July and we are excited to see what God is going to do through this amazing trip. Along with our other ministry efforts, we will be partnering with an organization in Gondor called Ethiopian Millennium. Their focus is humanitarian outreaches and we will assist the government in Gondor with their ongoing efforts. Learn more about Ethiopian Millennium at their website.
We will also be working with Teen Mania and Global Expeditions to help with personal evangelism, VBS, teaching English, and Street Dramas. Take a moment and check out their awesome website.
Focus: South Africa!
South Africa—a nation once known for apartheid, or white minority rule—is considered to be the powerhouse of Africa. With the most advanced and prosperous economy on the entire African continent, it is now the focus of a powerful, Spirit-filled ministry that is changing how people relate to God.
Marilyn will be special guest speaker at two South African churches—the Bay Christian Family Church, March 12-16 and Christian Family Church International, March 15-16.

Life and Death in Ethiopia
Are you available this summer to do something in someone's life that will really make a difference?
It's time for BIG CHANGE in Mexico!
Did you know that:
- Mexico City legalized abortion in April 2007?
- Evangelical Christians face increasing persecution by indigenous groups and traditional Catholics?
- Mexico's new president, Felipe Calderon, has begun an all-out assault on the powerful drug cartels, which some claim has created a domestic war that resembles the Iraq war in tactics and killing rates?
Mexico is a nation known for poverty, lack of opportunity, corruption, and religious oppression. Our prayers and ministry can change history...as will the 2008 International Women's Mentoring Exchange happening in Veracruz this February.
